Loyalty membership sign-in and sign-up – CRS Booking Engine and CRS Voice Application

Sign guests in to or register them for your loyalty program during the booking journey, and learn how member-exclusive rates and Room Rewards appear automatically once authenticated.

Written by Fernando Fallabrino

Guests can sign in to or register for your loyalty program directly within the CRS Booking Engine, no promo codes required. Once authenticated, member-exclusive rates and Room Rewards are displayed automatically based on the loyalty configuration in the SHR CRM.

Understand the loyalty membership sign-in and sign-up booking journey

The SHR CRM is a profile-based system. Guests who meet certain criteria or hold a qualifying loyalty tier may be eligible for Room Rewards or exclusive tier rates. To access these member-only offers, the guest must be signed in at key points during the booking process.

When a guest arrives in the booking engine, they are presented with options to sign in to an existing account or sign up for a new membership — directly within the booking flow. Once authenticated, any rates or rewards they qualify for are displayed automatically. No promo code or voucher is required.

Hoteliers can configure a default membership level and choose whether guests can access exclusive rates immediately upon sign-up.

Key characteristics

Outlined below are key characteristics of the loyalty sign-in and sign-up booking journey.

  • Guests can sign in or register without leaving the booking engine.

  • Two display options are available: a full-page login/registration experience, or an inline modal/popup.

  • Member-exclusive rates and Room Rewards appear automatically after the guest signs in, no promo codes required.

  • Rate display order follows your standard CRS rate configuration.

  • The pre- and post-sign-in messaging shown in the booking engine can be customized via the support team using label IDs.

  • A confirmation modal prompts guests who attempt to sign out mid-booking to protect their exclusive pricing.

  • The same member lookup and creation process is available to agents in the CRS Voice Application.

Before you start

Outlined below are important factors to know before configuring or testing this feature.

  • Loyalty tier rates and Room Rewards must be configured in both the CRM and CRS before they will appear in the booking engine.

  • The branding, colors, fonts, and button labels used in the booking engine sign-in/sign-up experience are customizable to reflect your property or brand.

  • CRS booking engine label text is managed by the SHR Support Team on your behalf. To request a change, open a support case and include the label ID and the new text you want to display. See Customize booking engine sign-in labels for the list of label IDs.

  • The type of sign-in experience used (full-page or modal/popup) is configured by the SHR onboarding team during implementation, or by the SHR Support Team after go-live. Contact the SHR Support Team to request a change.

Sign-in and sign-up display options

Two display options are available for guest sign-in and registration in the booking engine. The option you use depends on your configuration preferences and how you want to balance guest experience with customization flexibility.

Full-page login and registration

The default experience redirects guests to a dedicated login or registration page hosted separately from the booking engine. The branding, colors, fonts, imagery, and registration fields for this page are configured by the SHR onboarding team during implementation. This option also supports social media login (Facebook), allowing guests to register or sign in using their social account credentials.

The Sign In page displays a username/email address field, a password field, and options to log in, recover a forgotten password, or register as a new member.

The Registration page displays fields for First Name, Last Name, Email, Mobile, Password, and Confirm Password, along with checkboxes for agreeing to Terms and Conditions and opting in to future offers.

📌 Note: The text labels on the full-page login and registration screens are part of the Guest Portal and are managed directly by your team. For instructions, refer to the Guest Portal Configuration article.

Modal / popup login and registration

An inline modal can be enabled to allow guests to sign in or register without leaving the booking engine screen. This reduces friction during the booking journey by keeping the guest in context.

The Sign In modal includes tabs for Sign In and Sign Up, a username/email address field, a password field, a Remember Me checkbox, and a Sign In button.

The Sign Up modal displays fields for First Name, Last Name, Email Address, Password, and Confirm Password, along with a Terms and Conditions checkbox and a Sign Up button.

📌 Note: The modal registration fields are fixed and cannot be customized. Social media login and registration are not available through the modal. Guests who originally registered via the full-page option can still use the modal to sign in with their credentials. Consider all available sign-in pathways before enabling both options to ensure a consistent and streamlined guest experience.

What guests see after signing in

Once a guest signs in, the booking engine updates immediately to reflect their membership status and available offers.

  • A welcome message addressed to the guest by name is displayed.

  • A customizable post-sign-in message is shown beneath the search dates (see Label ID 3745 in Customize booking engine sign-in labels).

  • Any Room Rewards the guest qualifies for are displayed alongside standard rates.

  • Any tier-exclusive rates the guest is eligible for are now visible and bookable.

  • No additional steps are required from the guest, the eligible rates and rewards appear automatically based on the loyalty rules configured in the CRM.

Sign-out confirmation during booking

If a guest attempts to sign out while they have items in their cart or have selected member-exclusive rates, a confirmation modal is displayed to prevent accidental loss of their pricing.

The modal displays a Leaving so soon? heading with a message advising the guest that their exclusive prices may not be available upon return. Two buttons are presented:

  • I'd Still Like To Sign Out Now, confirms sign-out and removes member-exclusive pricing from the session.

  • Don't Sign Me Out, I Want To Go Back, dismisses the modal and returns the guest to their booking.

The text within this modal can be customized. See Label IDs 3519–3522 in Customize booking engine sign-in labels.

Booking journey in the CRS Voice Application

The same member authentication and rate visibility process is available to agents in the CRS Voice Application. Agents can look up an existing guest profile or create a new membership during the booking call to view the exclusive rates and rewards available for that specific guest and complete a reservation on their behalf.

📌 Note: To sign up a new member in the CRS Voice Application, agents must first use the Guest Profile Search (lookup) function to confirm the guest does not already have a profile. This prevents duplicate record creation.

For full instructions, refer to the Guest Profile Lookup and Member Creation in CRS Voice Application article.

Additional information

Outlined below is additional information about loyalty sign-in and sign-up in the booking engine and CRS Voice Application.

Promo codes and vouchers

No promo codes or vouchers are required to access member-exclusive rates. Once the guest signs in, the CRM identifies their membership tier and any rewards they hold, and displays the rates and rewards they qualify for automatically.

Modal registration fields

The modal registration form uses a fixed set of fields: First Name, Last Name, Email Address, Password, and Confirm Password. For full field customization, use the full-page registration option instead.

Facebook login

Social media login (Facebook) is only supported via the full-page login and registration experience. Guests who originally registered through the full-page option can still use the modal to sign in using their username and password.

Feature configuration

Loyalty rates and tier assignments are configured in Loyalty Setup in the SHR CRM, and in the CRS rate configuration. The sign-in experience type (full-page or modal), booking engine labels, and branding are configured by the SHR onboarding team during implementation or by the SHR Support Team after go-live. Guest Portal label text for the full-page login and registration screens is managed directly by your team, refer to the Guest Portal Configuration article for instructions.

Member-exclusive rates after sign-out

If a guest confirms sign-out, their session reverts to non-member pricing and any member-exclusive rates may no longer be available.

Agent membership creation

Agents must first perform a guest profile lookup to confirm no existing record exists, then create a new membership from within the CRS Voice Application. Refer to the Guest Profile Lookup and Member Creation in CRS Voice Application article for full instructions.
